New and exciting retail opportunities are arising with a number of shopping centre redevelopments due for completion later this year. With some redevelopments already underway it is now time for retailers to consider taking advantage of the potential opportunities for growth and expansion.
The huge redevelopment of Lend Lease’s Caneland Central in Mackay was completed late last year and Lend Lease now has council approval to undertake a major extension and refurbishment of Indooroopilly Shopping Centre, adding 27,000 square metres of new retail space including a 14,200 square metre David Jones department store (source: http://indooroopillyshopping.com.au/index.php?/redevelopment).
A handful of Stockland centres are also in stages of redevelopment including Stockland Merrylands (NSW) due for completion late 2012, Stockland Shell Harbour (NSW) (no completion date advised) and Stockland Townsville (QLD) due for completion mid 2012.
The recent announcement for the Ipswich CBD redevelopment means many new opportunities for the retail community in that sector of south east Queensland. The Orion Shopping Centre will soon begin stage 2 of redevelopment and expansion as well as the addition of Ipswich Medical Precinct and the Coles Supermarket Redevelopment.
One of the nation’s largest shopping centre owner Westfield is also looking towards future redevelopments at Westfield Northlakes, Westfield Chermside and Westfield Garden City shopping destinations.
Various other developments and redevelopments in Queensland include AMP’s Pacific Fair Broadbeach, Parkland Mackay, Coomera City Centre, and Everton Plaza. See below for a list of links for further information.
Design Gallery has completed a number of local and regional projects throughout 2011 including 9 recent retail store projects in the newly refurbishment and expanded Caneland Central shopping centre in Mackay, QLD. PARK(ing) Day 2011
12 September 2011

Design Gallery is participating in PARK(ing) DAY - a worldwide event promoting the importance for urban public spaces, rethinking the way we use our streets and encouraging sustainability and recycling.
This year's PARK(ing) Day is this Friday, 16th September.
Our park is titled "Born Again", and showcases the versatility and urban use of nature as a material. Our park aims to encourage others to reuse, recycle, and reduce in our everyday lifestyles, and looks at the little ways that we can give back to nature in today’s commercialised society.
We will be located in Brisbane Square at the top of the Queen Street Mall
If you're in the area on Friday come down and say hello!
For more information about this event visit The official PARK(ing) Day website or the Brisbane PARK(ing) Day website.

Revit Architecture 2011 Software Upgrade
14 July 2010
All of our designers are now using Revit 2011 after a major upgrade to our architectural software. Most major design companies use Revit or similar programs to produce their documentation, therefore by upgrading to this sophisticated program we keep pace with other design houses within the industry. This means we retain our competitive edge and can provide our clients with even better service. The result of this new technology is faster workflow and shorter timeframes making the whole process quicker and cost effective for our clients, and enables us to provide higher quality documentation.

Improved Rendering Capabilities
1 May 2010
We are now able to produce even better, more beautiful, photo realistic, 3D renders! When teamed with our concept design service we are able to design and produce your store concept realistically displaying all aspects of your store’s appearance including [but not limited to] the lighting, reflections, furniture, textures, surfaces and colours. Renders are also a great tool for presentations!

Design Gallery switching to REVIT Architecture 2008
11 April 2008
Newsflash: Revit
Design Gallery switching to REVIT Architecture 2008
Since the beginning of the year we have been busy implementing into our systems the Autodesk Product - REVIT Architecture.
This software is the latest buzz in commercial interior design for the production of concept 3D drawings, renderings and construction documentation. The integration of REVIT into our system has been facilitated by KarelCad with onsite training and ongoing support to our very capable designers. As a consequence we are seeing some amazing results in our presentation packages in a very short time. This ability to show clients a 3D image of their intended space is a great tool to convey an idea and concept. We see further potential for this form of design in terms of our communication with relevant authorities to mainstream and speed up approval processes.
The attached example is of our very first attempt with the software. This rather unconventional project for an interior design firm, has given Carly, one of our senior designers, the scope to explore her talents not only in interior space planning and design, but allowed her the creative process to transform the façade of this tired commercial building to a contemporary new look. “It will be the best in the street!” ~ according to our happy client. The project is yet to be built… watch this space for photos.
Any further information required about the scope of the software and it’s capabilities please contact us ..…we look forward to having a chat with you.
Cheers
Zita
PS Design Gallery’s Melbourne Office coming soon…...we’ll keep you posted.
