Design Gallery worked with QBD Books to create a new concept design for their retail stores which highlighted the history of the brand and its beginning as a book depository warehouse in central Brisbane in the 1890s. The first fitout for the new concept was within the newly developed Pacific Fair Shopping Centre and featured concrete finishes, brick walls, display trolleys on castors, industrial pendant lighting, a black finished entrance ceiling with window shutters, and a historical collage banner of old photos sourced direct from the archive to create a quintessential warehouse feel. A unique shopfront approach was incorporated with a custom made mesh and exposed frame door system to complete the theme. Since then, Design Gallery have worked with QBD Books to bring to life more than 20 rollouts of this concept. In October 2016 QBD Books was sold and the concept was further developed to be in line with current trends, needs and future plans of QBD Books.
